St Mark & St Stephen
Our Mission and Vision

Our PCC are currently redeveloping our mission statement and values and this will be updated very soon.

Our Mission and Vision

Our new parish brings together two communities with different contexts: St Mark, rooted in an area of deprivation, and St Stephen, located in a relatively affluent part of the parish. The Bush Hill Park Railway Station lies between them, yet in Christ the barriers are broken down. Here, those who have more are learning from those who have less, and those who have less are blessing those who have more. We are discovering together what it means to be one body in Christ, living out Paul’s words: “The parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable” (1 Corinthians 12:22).

A Prayer for Our Mission Action Plan

Loving God,
Guide us as we develop our mission action plan for St Mark and St Stephen Bush Hill Park. Inspire us with Your vision, wisdom, and courage to meet the needs of our community with faith and love. May our plans reflect Your will, unite us in purpose, and empower us to be a light in the world. Bless our efforts, that we may bring glory to Your name.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
Amen.

Our Vision

To be a thriving, vibrant hub where all find belonging, encounter Jesus, and are empowered to grow in faith and serve others.

Our Mission

To be a Christ-centred, welcoming community where everyone can truly belong, sharing God’s love and grace through worship, service, and action.
We aim to grow younger, deepen connections, and show care for God’s creation and all people, reflecting the values of Compassionate Communities and the Diocese of London’s Vision 2030.

Our Mission Action Plan

Our PCC is currently developing a Mission Action Plan (MAP) that aligns with the Diocese of London’s Vision 2030 ambitions and priorities. It will set out practical and measurable actions, rooted in Scripture, to help us live out our calling.

The MAP will focus on these five key areas:

  1. Welcome & Belonging
Enhance our welcome and improve building accessibility so that all can feel at home and supported in our community.
“Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” (Romans 15:7)
  2. Growing Younger & Deeper
Grow our congregation both numerically and spiritually, especially by encouraging the full participation of children and young people.
“So the churches were strengthened in the faith and increased in numbers daily.” (Acts 16:5)
  3. Creative Growth through Music
Reach out through music by developing a choir and/or worship band, celebrating God through creativity and praise.
“I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.” (Psalm 104:33)
  4. Caring for God’s Creation
Demonstrate our care for the environment and God’s good creation in practical ways.
“Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion…” (Genesis 1:26)
  5. Racial Justice & Inclusion
Actively work towards becoming a more racially just church where all are valued equally as children of God.
“For in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptised into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” (Galatians 3:26–27)
